Development: The Mark 4 XM589 Carbine was a massive improvement from the usual XM589 Carbine usually given to the Infantry and basic crewman units. It was developed to be even more compact then the Carbine but also to hold a built in grenade launcher which was developed for all Infantry, pilots and crewmen in order to provide the extra firepower. Though due to funding issues, this weapon was pushed towards the Crewmen of the Mechanized units. Due to the nature of the Mechs which were being carefully developed at the time, they could not find a weapon which could fit for the Mech Operator to have which was compact enough to use if their Mech suffered any damages. Which eventually allowed for the Mark IV to be given to these Crewmen. Though, some people in the main armed forces are equipped with these weapons for further testing on the field.
